Our small, successful management team come from a range of property investment, development and finance backgrounds. They understand the importance of partnering with tenants to deliver the best outcomes and results for investors.

David CarrChief Executive Officer

David has over 25 years experience in property and capital markets including as the Chief Executive of Vital since October 2006. David has overall accountability for implementing and delivering the Trust’s strategy and for its overall performance. He leads a team of passionate healthcare real estate professionals in New Zealand and Australia. Vital remains Australasia’s largest listed healthcare real estate investment vehicle with assets of approximately $1.7bn and a market capitalisation of over $950m. During David’s tenure Vital has delivered a ten-year compound annual total return of 13.6%, outperforming both the S&P/NZX All RE Gross Index and the S&P NZX50 Index.

Stuart HarrisonChief Financial Officer and Company Secretary

Stuart has nearly three decades of financial reporting and management experience within the Chartered Accountancy, utilities and hospitality/property industries and joined the team in September 2008. As Chief Financial Officer, he has been responsible for overseeing the financial and management reporting, treasury management and tax compliance within both New Zealand and Australia. The efficient implementation of these functions have been supportive of the Trust’s operating performances in recent years – including equity raising, debt facility renewals and strategic acquisitions.

In his capacity as Company Secretary, Stuart has been responsible for the on-going compliance requirements of the Trust and its underlying subsidiary entities and for the corporate functions of the Trust.

Stuart holds a Bachelor of Commerce and Chartered Accountants Australia and NZ qualifications. He is also a member of the New Zealand Institute of Directors.

Richard RoosManaging Director - Australia

Richard moved to Melbourne with his family to join Vital three years ago after spending the previous six years in a senior executive role with NorthWest Healthcare Properties REIT, a Canadian healthcare property trust. He has over 20 years of career experience in commercial real estate financing, acquisitions and property management.

In his role as Managing Director, Richard is responsible along with his Melbourne based team for the asset management of the Australian portfolio, including acquisitions, development, leasing and tenant relationships.

Mark NormanNational Development Manager

Mark has more than 20 years’ experience in the healthcare property industry. He has delivered over 40 development projects for the Trust with a total value in excess of $350 million. This includes the development of several key greenfield hospitals along with numerous projects, in partnership with our operators, to enhance Vital’s existing facilities. Based in Melbourne, Mark has also been involved in the majority of Vital’s acquisitions over the last six years and also plays a significant role in the asset management of our Australian properties.

Drugh WoodsNew Zealand Asset Manager

Drugh has been with Vital for over eight years and is responsible for managing the financial performance of the New Zealand portfolio including asset acquisitions and disposals. Drugh has over 13 years of experience following the completion of a Bachelor of Property degree at Auckland University and was involved in a diverse range of property projects in Auckland and Christchurch prior to joining Vital.

Cameron RamsayNational Acquisitions Manager

Cameron joined Vital in April 2016 as National Acquisitions Manager. He has over 10 years’ experience in the property industry having formerly worked with Ernst & Young's Real Estate Advisory team in Melbourne.

Cameron’s previous role as Associate Director involved primarily managing freehold and going concern private hospital and medical centre valuations, acquisition due diligence and transaction management engagements for institutions, REIT's, syndicates, not for profit organisations, governments and high net worth individuals.

He has worked on a wide range of asset classes including aged care, major commercial office buildings, retail, industrial, residential development sites and subdivisions, car parks and retirement villages. In addition Cameron has provided specialist consultancy advice in relation to real estate options analysis, feasibility studies, site selection analysis, financial modelling, industry benchmarking assessments, business case assessments and lease structuring advice. Cameron has a Graduate Diploma in Valuations and Master of Business (Property) from RMIT University and is a Certified Practicing Valuer and member of the Australian Property Institute.

Based in Vital’s Melbourne office, Cameron will play a key role in the continued growth of the Australian portfolio.

Jason KepecsDirector, Investments & Investor Relations

Jason joined the Vital team in September 2017. He is an experienced property professional, with nearly a decade of experience in the North American property investment industry. Previously, Jason was an equity analyst at a global investment bank covering Canada’s listed property sector. Jason began his career with a national grocery anchored shopping centre owner while completing his Bachelor of Administrative Studies at York University. Jason has passed the CFA Level One exam.

Jason’s primary responsibility is managing key communications and relationships across all stakeholder including the retail & institutional investors, the brokering community and financiers.

As the Fund Analyst Jason undertakes various financial modelling and analysis which support the delivery of the Trust’s strategy.

Vincent MageeGroup Accountant

Vincent started with Vital in 2017 and is responsible for the group accounting activities for the New Zealand portfolio. Vincent has worked in a diverse range of industries before joining Vital. Vincent holds a Bachelor of Business and Chartered Accountants Australia and NZ qualifications.

Sophie Benfell-BrinsdenProperty Manager

Sophie joined Vital in November 2017 and has over 5 years’ experience in property management. She has a Bachelor of Property from Auckland University and has previously managed commercial office buildings, industrial properties, suburban shopping and healthcare centres. Sophie is responsible for the property management and day-day to day operations of the New Zealand portfolio.

Rhys Van StipriaanManager - Legal & Compliance

Rhys started working at Vital in 2017 as the legal and compliance manager. Rhys is a qualified Barrister and Solicitor (New Zealand) and has a Bachelor of Laws (Hons) and Bachelor of Science from the University of Auckland.

Georgie HuxleyAsset Manager

Georgie joined Vital in January 2018 as an Asset Manager. Georgie has a Bachelor of Applied Science (Property and Valuations) from RMIT University and holds a current Agents Representative license for Victoria.

Georgie has nearly a decade of experience in the real estate sector, working across multiple asset classes for both listed and unlisted REIT’s. She held previous roles at Knight Frank and Frasers Logistics & Industrial Trust, specialising in property, lease and asset management. Based in Vital’s Melbourne office, Georgie is responsible for the asset management of the Australian portfolio, focusing on key leasing strategies and asset enhancement initiatives.

Vickie LiProperty Accountant

Vickie began working at Vital in 2017 and is responsible for property accounting for the entire Australian portfolio.  Before Vital, Vickie was a Company accountant at RPM Real Estate Group and has worked in the real estate industry for the past six years. She is a Certified Practicing Accountant with CPA Australia and has a Master of Finance from Melbourne University.

Margaret KnellProperty Administrator

Margaret began working at Vital in 2006 and is responsible for accounts payable, accounts receivable and money management. Before working for Vital, Margaret spent seven years in London working for Strutt & Parker in their property management team and on her return to New Zealand held a similar position with a private building owner in the Auckland CBD.

Toni RobertsMarketing Co-ordinator & Executive Assistant

Toni started with Vital in 2017. As Marketing Co-ordinator Toni is responsible for the day to day management of all marketing projects. Toni also provides Executive Assistance to the Chief Executive Officer as well as overseeing administrative and operational support to Vital’s New Zealand and Australian operations.
